Our Autumn Flower Dress – London Fashion Week

The London florist Todich Floral Design  has recently had the pleasure of designing a magnificent window display for a French Brasserie based in Central London.  Inspired by the autumn season and London Fashion week, the team worked together to create a wondrous display that combined fresh flowers in London with fabrics, foliage and jewellery.

IMG_7264_resizeWe are an event florist in London who regularly designs bespoke flower displays for the window of Brassiere Chavot. Once a month our talented team come up with ideas by creating large mood boards with sketches, flowers  from London and fabric s samples as part of a detailed design process.

We base a lot of our ideas on seasonality, and always use the freshest plants and herbs available. To make us stand out from the crowd we also add antique furnishings and props to enhance the look of the window.  Our spring display included pretty blossoms planted in rustic wicker baskets and our summer display contained sunflowers which were placed in pre-war suitcases. Our florists always aim to impress our clients, their diners and passers-by.

Autumn is a stunning time of year as it casts the UK into a beautiful amber hue. The leaves on the trees change colour into a mix of spicy red burnt orange, natural greens and browns, this month our floristry team wanted to create a flower window display based on the colourful tones of the autumn season.

Influenced by London fashion week, our head designer Laura Fisher managed to source an antique French mannequin that fitted perfectly for the display. The mannequin was set to be dressed with floor length autumnal attire which would be made entirely with event flowers and foliage.

IMG_7232_resizeFirstly, the dress was shaped with chicken wire that was tied around the waist of the mannequin; when secured tightly we then carefully weaved English moss around the wire frame. The London flower dress was made up with preserved oak leaves, dried hydrangea heads, delicate berries and Vanda orchids which were in a beautiful blend of autumnal shades.

The mannequin stood at the centre of the window on a circular bed of moss. The figure was surrounded by conifer trees and rustic wooden crates which was loved by the owner of the restaurant.

We also teamed up with London jewellers Tateossian, who donated a bespoke necklace which sat around the neck of the mannequin.

We are thrilled that our client loves our fashion inspired window display, and look forward to future designs for the upcoming winter season.
