Contemporary Japanese weddings may be traditional, or incorporate aspects of Western-style weddings...
Traditional weddings are Shinto style and are held at a shrine. Nowadays, this shrine may be located inside the hotel where the festivities take place. The ceremony is attended by close family members and is officiated by a Shinto priest. The couple drink sake and the groom reads out words of commitment. The couple are dressed in traditional kimonos. After the ceremony, the couple welcome guests to the reception party.
Some of the more Western introductions to Japanese weddings include many brides choosing to wear white. Some religious ceremonies are even held at a Christian church even though the couple may not be Christian. The ritual of cake cutting, the exchange of rings, honeymoons and bridal bouquets are other common adopted elements. Bridal and reception flowers are available from Todich Floral Design in both Japanese and Western style.
